January,

1. I've been thinking a lot lately about finally finishing the second half of my thesis for my MA in French. It is about the French visual poet Guillaume Apollinaire and the adaptation of his works to modern times. To give you an idea about his visual poetry, watch this. My output could also be in the form of a poetry session, exhibit, chapbook, or street art even. If you have suggestions, message me! :)

2. In line with #1, I received a few emails asking about French lessons. I will resume tutoring basic French "at a random cafe in Katipunan" in March. Hope I get to see my past students again :)

3. These are some of the new stoneware pieces I've been working on since the 2nd week of January. They're serving bowls. I started making them when I got fixated on having my own place, an apartment, a condo, or maybe a house (haha!). Anything actually that I could call my own with a small pocket garden (non-negotiable).

4. On some days, you just feel uninspired. So, you go to the nearest mall and watch a crappy movie to "borrow someone else's reality", as my friend Omps would say, for a good 1 hour or 2.

5. I just received my Go Getter Planner! It's really encouraging because there are challenges and good deals every month. Thanks Arriane, Ruth, Amanda, and Karen for this. Looking forward to more collaborations with you.

6. I received an invitation to go to 10 Alabama for a shoot. I was there an hour before the call time. It has made me realize that I really love what I'm doing because I'm willing to wake up early for it.

7. Who says crafting is only for girls? Meet Daniel, one of the participants of the last Hey Kessy Washi Workshop. Everyone was so amazed of his works! He really takes crafting seriously. Read about him here.

8. I am already organizing the next Hey Kessy Washi Workshop and Hey Kessy Messy Washi Party. What other washi projects would you like to learn making?

  1. Ahhh the little prince - my favourite book of all time! I bought it in tagalog when I was in the Philippines.

  2. Congrats, Mansy, on your upcoming workshops and projects. And I thought 2012 will be just an ordinary year, it wasn't! It ended on a high note. A big part of that was meeting you and the rest of the IG crafty friends and the messy washi party. Hope to see you again soon and maybe a collab with you in the near future. Nevertheless, chikahan over food would be great, too! :)

  3. I'm giving in to washi. I've been avoiding them last year (sorry) because I know one roll would never be enough for me. Bring your workshop on! Hahaha, but really, really looking forward to it.
