The beach has to wait

Ice candy festival, anyone?

I'm surprised how I can now (somehow) tolerate the unforgiving heat. Instead of getting irritable, I just ask for ice candy. I think that the more you complain about the heat, the more it becomes real.

I'll be going to the mountains to escape summer and attend to a personal project next month. The beach has to wait until May. For now, these photos from last year's Zambales beach trip at The Circle Hostel would do :)

On Sewing

Fabric

Fabric

Maybe, enduring this weirdness was worth it after all. I was finally able to sew a simple, sack top for summer. The edges are ragged, raw - just the way I like it. I'm looking forward to wearing this work :)

I'm wondering though if the stitches would last. *fingers crossed* The next thing on my list is to practice pattern making.

PS There'll be another Washi+Papercutting Workshop in April. More details soon :)

Paper Tea Cup and Cutting Mats

Paper Tea Cup

Paper Tea Cup

In the next couple of weeks, something major will change again in my life. I'm excited but too preoccupied to immediately do the necessary steps to make it final.

As we are talking about change, I've tried something new. This paper tea cup is a Kirigami - combination of papercutting and origami. It goes well with a washi coaster.

I'll be making more for my fellow tea lovers from the Fat Tea Fingers Society - a happy, dandy group I recently co-founded with two college friends :)

Cutting Mat

Btw, there'll be no name tags for the participants of the Paperpan: Washi+Papercutting Workshop on Saturday... because everyone gets a personalized cutting mat instead! Yay!

PS The next 10a Alabama Fair is on April 13-14 :)

Ah, March

1. I hope my birthday month gives me more chances than February did.

March

2.  Sometimes, somewhere between self loathing and hunger, you realize that you mess up big time. Too bad you're not a character in a book (or a movie) who has a hundred pages  (2 hours) worth of opportunities to redeem themself.

I hate how I ruin things when I'm too excited.

March

3. Another thing that I hate is the fact that my emergency food at work is a cup of unhealthy noodles.

March

4. Crafting with Tippy at Mcdo :)

March

5. This means freedom. After two years, here I am, back on the road again! :) The LTO Satellite Office at SM Hypermarket beside Tiendesitas makes life a lot better, very accommodating and efficient staff.

March

6. Trying to learn a new skill on weekends.

Ah, March

7. Thank you, Cosmopolitan Philippines, for featuring Hey Kessy in your March issue. :) You can check out Hey Kessy's paper straw designs here.

Weekend Calligraphy

In highschool, some teachers would refuse to check my test paper just because they couldn't - or refused - to understand my handwriting. Almost a decade and three calligraphy workshops after, my handwriting is back with vengeance! Haha :)

1. Calligraphy Crafternoon with Alessa, August 2012:

with Edwina, Marc

and Buds :)

It was hard for me to control the pressure so it wasn't really Copperplate Calligraphy I came up with that afternoon.

2. Oh Hello Calligraphy Workshop with Fozzy, September 2012:

3. Calligraphy & Creative Life Planning Crafternoon with PJ and Alessa, February 2013:

I was empowered because of PJ's talk and didn't lazy around this time. It was my third Calligraphy workshop! Kung hindi pa ako natuto, ewan ko nalang. And thank god, there are now thin and thick lines! :)

I have to prepare early for the 10a Alabama's Arts and Crafts Fair in April. No more sleepless nights unlike last year where I ended up half asleep, half mumbling while selling.

These pendants are some of the things I am going to sell - that is if I don't get too attached. Maybe, I need to make more?
