Some Photos from Last Summer

Though I'm not really a beach person, I do enjoy the sun and sand. Our Craft Camp in Zambales reminded how I outdoors person I was back in college. There was even a time I went to school to pass a draft of my thesis straight from a climb! (Read: no ligo)

Here are some photos while we were preparing for the camp last summer:

Washi on Fabric?

The other day, I used Hey Kessy washi tapes to decorate a plain tote bag. Yes, they stuck well onto the material...well, let's just stay I used Mod Podge fabric sealant :p

Washi Color Bombing

The other day, I was thinking of how I would fill the venue of the Washi Monogram Workshop on Sunday with washi crafts given the limited amount of time. Last year, I had almost two months to make the decorations, craft kits, and washi projects for the Hey Kessy Messy Washi Party. Now, I have like three days!

So, I came up with washi color bombs! They're so esay to make - just cut out shapes, could be letters too, and cover them with your favorite washi designs. They don't have to be covered entirely. Make sure that you don't trim the strips exactly at the edge so you can directly stick them on walls, boxes, notebooks, bags, etc. :)

Some Things, September

1. Right now, this sea salt- and sea kelp-infused beach hair spray is the only thing that keeps me from cutting my hair. Although its effect doesn't really last for hours, it still gives enough waves to my otherwise too straight and formless hair.

Banksy

2. I regret finishing this Banksy book in just one sitting. It was just too amazing! Banksy doesn't write on walls just for the sake of writing on walls. The guy is visionary.

This has got to be one of my most favorite quotes which can be found at the back.

3. I'm not sure if you've noticed already but my blog is sporting a new header! Thanks to Paul for being so patient and coming up with a very cute design, even incorporating my signature plants! :)

And I also transferred my blog from Wordpress to Blogger.

4. When I join fairs, I almost always come an hour earlier than the set ingress. Nope, I'm not a morning person but I just happen to enjoy playing with different booth arrangements. I use props, racks, and different organizers I can find at home. No need to shell out to have a well-organized booth :p

5. I visited sir Asao, a Japanese paper artist, in the North just last weekend. He was really humble and kind, welcoming me in his studio and letting me experiment with different natural dyes. He even prepared an authentic shabu-shabu for me and my brother.

I will write more about this trip :)

Today

I walked to Wooden Spoon this afternoon because I couldn't really take my mind off their fried fish with wansoy sauce (!!!). The sauce was so good, I had 3 servings! Seriously, it should be a separate meal altogether.

On my way, I picked up some leaves which I think would be a good fit for the next leafcutting project I'm planning to do.

I'm almost done with this papercut. I used my mom's painting as the background.

Designed My Own Fabric and Sewed It Too

Fabric Design

Yes, I now have my own design printed on fabric! Just weeks ago, I thought the only way I could do this was thru a US-based company. Good thing Alessa came up with the Pattern Design Workshop. We got two types of fabric - polyester and canvas. I made a pencil case (gave to mommy) and a case for my future (haha!!) iPad mini :p

We also had a fabric swap. I got Macy's, on the left; the one on the right is Alessa's.

I will definitely make more fabric designs! :)

I was able to use my new craft tools today - alphabet metal stamps! They easily imprint clear letters on brass and even on leather. I can't wait to share this to the participants of the Brass Jewelry Workshop on September 28. Btw, you can still join the workshop. More details here :)

10a Alabama Fair Last July

I joined the 10a Alabama Fair last July for only a day, but it was worth it! My booth neighbors were really nice and made sure I wouldn't die of hunger (haha). I also made new crafter friends :)

shared a booth with Hey Kessy!

hello Abbey! :)

Whenever I join a 10a fair, I would avoid going around so much because I know that would only end up in me spending all my fair earnings! :p I scored a few handmade goodies last time.

The next 10a Alabama Fair is in November. If you want to participate as a seller, make sure you start making your products now and take photos of them so when the organizers call for applications some time in October, you're ready!
