El Nido: Making Art by the Nacpan Beach

I wasn't much of a beach person - I'd rather go to the mountains or spend a whole afternoon in a cafe or small restaurant in cold places like Baguio or Sagada. But my recent El Nido trip changed that.

Of all the beautiful beaches my friend, Abby, and I went to in El Nido, Nacpan is my favorite. It's about a 30 to 45 minute bicycle ride from the town proper. The first time we went there, we went up a hill and had a 360ยบ view of Nacpan - the sandbar, surrounding islands, turquoise waters, calm waves, and a small fisherfolk community. It is one of the most B E A U T I F U L places I've ever seen!

Two days after that, we went there again. This time with the other travelers we met at our hostel - OMP Hostel. After lunch, I made time to make art by the beach before joining the others in swimming.

Did you know that the movie The Beach was inspired by El Nido and not by some place else in Thailand? Now I wonder, has Leo DiCaprio been to El Nido? Haha :)

Anyhoo, more El Nido photos in the coming days!

PS We were lucky to find a hostel where people were accommodating and would find time to talk to fellow travelers. The staff - kuya Rolly and kuya Nong -  were accommodating. They would go out of their way to assist us during our stay.
