Roadtrip with Tippy: Casa San Miguel

Two hours after the bus from Baguio reached Manila, I met up with Tippy for another roadtrip. We were headed to Casa San Miguel, Zambales.

Although the gallery as well as the restaurants were closed, and our options were pretty much limited to eating at the compound's smaller cafe and walking around the vast garden, I enjoyed our quiet art and craft time. Tippy gave me tips on how to use watercolor and most importantly, reminded me to love my own handwriting, and to appreciate and develop it. I can't wait for her Basic Watercolor + Ink Workshop at the studio.

Here's one of the FrenchxCrafts notes I made that day:

The patterns and colors of the casa would be a treat to any highly visual person:

I wasn't sure if this area wasn't open to the public but I saw one of the artists I admire sitting on a sofa, writing or painting. He seemed so taken with whatever it was he was working on. I figured it was a sacred time for him so I quietly walked away - but yes, I did want to have a photo with him. Hope I didn't disturb him!

Come summer time, children who want to learn how to play the violin stay. The casa also runs art residency programs.

Looking forward to our next roadtrip. Where do you think should Tippy and I go next? :)
